Steve Williamson

PGA Golf Professional

Our professional Steve Williamson has extensive experience in all aspects of the golf profession, Steve is a recognised clubmaker with a respected reputation within the trade. His services have been widely called upon to help young PGA assistants grasp the basics of club repair and design, assisting with their progress through the PGA apprenticeship.

Steve has a PGA Rules qualification which allows him to referee at professional events, and indeed this experience is often called upon at an amateur level locally.

But Steve's real expertise lies with teaching the golf swing and since moving to Lincoln golf range in 2006 and focusing predominantly on teaching he has built up a clientele of pupils from both the professional and amateur ranks.

Steve's no nonsense approach may be quite different to anything you may have experienced before, because if you are looking for a "band aid" fast fix solution for your game Steve is definitely not the instructor for you.

Steve will work with your existing technique but will not compromise with fast fixes that last for a few rounds at best, many instructors adopt this approach and you should have no problem locating one.

If you are serious about improving or regaining your best form, instruction at Lincoln golf range may very well be the place you have been searching for.

If you are tired of quick fixes and would rather opt for realistic long-term improvement Steve may very well be the instructor you should see. If you are a serious golfer intent on playing to the best of your ability don’t waste your time and energy on magic moves and fast fixes that have handicapped the sport for so long.

We have all trodden the path of extolling the virtues of our latest magic move only to be totally deflated when 1 or 2 rounds later the realisation of its usefulness is all to obvious. Just as you cannot buy a game with the latest high tech equipment you are equally doomed to failure without getting to the root of your problem and working on a corrective course of action. The phrase that all too readily springs to mind is “no pain no gain”.

We have a purpose built private teaching bay, incorporating 2 high speed video cameras linked directly to Cswing teaching software enabling fast and accurate analysis of your swing. The equipment is portable and can also be used outside for precise analysis of your short game.

If you are just starting out or indeed just thinking of starting Steve runs individual and small group courses especially tailored for the beginner, typically these courses are made up of 2, 3 or 4 friends that take the plunge together and are run in a relaxed friendly manner with plenty of encouragement during the various stages of development.

Many potential golfers make a bad decision at the outset, opting for a "have a go" approach with the help of a golfing friend before seeking professional advice. Because a golfers inherent swing has becoming habitual and to a large extent imprinted, the problems facing the instructor become compounded. Existing moves and thought are often in conflict with the fundamentals of an effective, reliable golf swing.

Junior golf is especially encouraged and Steve runs Junior only sessions usually Saturday mornings throughout the summer months, these classes are very relaxed and work on a roll up system which means that there is no commitment to pay for a full course of lessons. The sessions are split into two age groups, 5 to 8 and 9 to 12.
